New Web Sites Coming
Soon!
Creative Exchange is going to launch its brand
new website: it aims to be more user-friendly and interactive
and will incorporate dynamic technologies which will help Creative Exchange’s
staff to update it much more frequently and efficiently. The website
will feature areas for public discussion (Forums), an E-Bookshop and
a fully searchable archive of resources, news and bulletins.
Creative Exchange has also got funding from Arts Council
England and the Home Office to create a new section of its website devoted
to Culture, Arts and Refugees.
In early 2005 Creative Exchange presented a major report, entitled ‘A
Sense of Belonging’, which addressed the role of arts and culture
in the integration of refugees and asylum seekers. The report emerged
from a 12-month research project involving 73 projects across the UK.
Since then, Creative Exchange has been approached by people seeking
to access information from the research online.
The new section, which will be launched by Autumn 2006, will feature
the executive summary of the research and 14 case studies; it will also
include a page signposting useful organisations, publications, resource
materials and contacts. This is just the first step of a wider strategy
to make information about arts, culture and the integration of refugees
and asylum seekers more widely and easily accessible to the public via
the Internet.

A
Sense of Belonging
Creative Exchange has launched a report and DVD, A Sense
of Belonging, which addresses the role of arts and culture in the integration
of refugees and asylum seekers. A Sense of Belonging is the first major
report on the role of both culture (as a foundation for human development)
and arts (as a means of expression, communication and sharing) in the
resettlement process. The report has emerged from a 12-month research
project involving 73 projects across the UK - 33 of which were explored
in detail. 14 case studies were selected as exemplary projects, and
nine of these feature in a DVD of 'video case studies'.
